Bhopal: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written to his ex-ministerial colleague Prahlad Singh Patel, presently Panchayat, Rural development and Labour minister in Madhya Pradesh, to pay his condolences on Patel’s mother Shrimati Yashoda Bai Patel’s demise and recalls what a mother’s virtues are.
Yashoda Bai Patel who had been ailing for some time passed away late night on Sunday. She was 88. Her another son is Jalam Singh Patel, ex-BJP MLA.

“I am deeply saddened to learn regarding the passing away of your mother Shrimati Yashoda Bai Patel ji. My condolences are with the family in this time of irreparable loss”, said the PM in the letter addressed to the minister Prahlad Singh Patel.
“Mother’s love and affection are life’s greatest strengths. Mother’s kindness is incomparable in the world. Words cannot express the pain caused by void her passing has left in your life and that of your family”, said the PM.
The PM further said, “Shrimati Yashoda Bai Patel ji was a strong pillar and source of inspiration for the family. While she is no longer physically present in the world the teachings and values she imparted will continue to remain with the family.”
Patel expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for his condolences and support to him and his family in this hour of grief.

Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav visited Patel’s ancestral home to pay his condolences while Patel’s ministerial colleagues too expressed their condolence on Patel’s mother’s demise.

Prahlad Singh Patel has been minister of state (Independent charge) for Tourism for more than two years from May 2019 to July 2021, minister of state (Independent charge) for Culture for more than two years from July 2021 to December 2023 during the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s second stint as the PM. He also held the portfolio of minister of state for Food Processing Industries and Jal Shakti.
He contested state assembly election in Madhya Pradesh in 2023 having tendered resignation from Lok Sabha as per decision of the central BJP leadership and became a minister having won the election from Narsinghpur constituency.
