My brother’s belongings like his wallet, bracelet, chain, a bag and ring are missing. If it had been a case of mishap at lease some of these belongings like gold chain and ring would have been found from my brother’s body. I have no faith in Meghalaya government and local police (Shillong police) and want a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)’s probe: Vipin Raghuvanshi, brother of Raja Raghuvanshi whose dead body was recovered from a gorge near Wei Sawdong falls in Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills district on Monday.
Bhopal: In a sensational revelation Vipin Raghuvanshi, brother of Raja Raghuvanshi,30, a trader from Indore in Madhya Pradesh, whose dead body was recovered from a gorge in Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills district on Monday, has claimed that the personal belongings of his brother, including wallet, gold chain and ring were missing.
Raja Raghuvanshi’s wife Sonam Raghuvanshi, 27, is still missing and a search operation is going on to trace her, as per local police.
Talking to local media persons in Shillong on Tuesday Vipin said he had no faith in Meghalaya government and the local police and urged the chief minister to hand over the investigation in the case to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Vipin said, “My brother’s belongings like his wallet, bracelet, chain, a bag and ring are missing. His mobile phone and power banks too are missing. If it had been a case of mishap at lease some of these belongings like gold chain and ring would have been found from my brother’s body. Also, the scooty they had hired was found 25 kilometers away from the spot from where they were said to have gone missing.”
Vipin raised several questions to debunk the theory that it was either a case of suicide or there was some enmity behind what could be a murder.
Vipin said his brother and his wife both were happy after their marriage on May 11. Why they should come as much as 2500 kilometers away from Indore to commit suicide? he asked while adding the spot where they were said to have gone missing has a five-foot high wall where suicide didn’t look possible.
ROBBERY AND MURDER SUSPECTED
Vipin suspected it to be a case of robbery and murder in which, he said, local people were involved but, he alleged, police were not willing to believe this.
That’s why, he added, a CBI probe was needed in this case with involvement of a CBI team from Delhi. “I would request the chief minister to hand over the case to the CBI”, he said.
“I WILL LIKE TO SEE MY SISTER-IN-LAW ALIVE”
Vipin said he would like to see his sister-in-law alive and hoped that the police would not spare any stone unturned to find her.
Notably, Raja Raghuvanshi’s decomposed body was recovered from a gorge near Wei Sawdong Falls close to Sohra in Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills district, on Monday, 50 kilometers from the district headquarters and capital city Shillong.
The newlywed couple was on a honeymoon trip to the hilly region since May 20 when they were reported missing on May 23.
A drone helped the search team to spot the body near the falls. It captured photos of the trader’s legs which led to the search team to get down to the spot.
POSTMORTERM REPORT IS STILL AWAITED
The dead body was sent for a post-mortem a report of which is still awaited. Looking into all the possible angles behind the death the police lodged an FIR for murder. A special investigation team was also formed to probe into the circumstances that led to death of Raja Raghuvanshi and disappearance of his wife, as per local media in Shillong.
East Khasi Hills superintendent of police, Vivek Syiem said on Monday, “A lady’s white shirt, a strip of Pentra 40 medicine, a part of LCD screen of a Vivo mobile phone and smart watch were recovered from the body of Raja Raghuvanshi.”
