“She is overwhelmed with emotions. She has thousands of questions, all spiritual, and we try to satisfy her with our answers all the time. Her family is one of the wealthiest in the world. But there is not an iota of arrogance in her.”
Mahakumbh City: Apple Inc. co-founder Steve Jobs’ widow Laurene Powell Jobs (61) fell sick in Mahakumbh Mela camp in Uttar Pradesh, where she has been staying since Sunday and, hence, couldn’t take the holy dip at Sangam, the confluence of the Ganges, the Yamuna and mythical Saraswati, on the auspicious day of Makar Sankranti on Tuesday.
This was disclosed by Swami Kailashanand Giri when asked by media persons about absence of Laurene Powell Jobs absence at the Sangam for the holy dip (bath) on Tuesday.
One of the wealthiest women in the world Laurene Powell, the widow of Steve Jobs, accompanied the seer Kailashanand Giri and his disciples first to Varanasi and then to the tent city of Mahakumbh Mela at Prayagraj on Sunday.
Responding to media persons’ questions Swami Kailashanand Giri said, “She was to take the holy dip but She developed allergies in her hand. That’s why she couldn’t take bath (at Sangam) along with others. She has never been amidst such a huge crowd. She will take bath alone. I will make arrangements for her.”
Showering praises on Powell Jobs’ humility and unassuming nature Swami said, “She is very humble and unpretentious. She was with us taking part in poojan (ritual) at night. She will take part in havan and other rituals too. At the moment, she is having rest in my camp.”
In reply to a question on Powell Jobs’ spiritual orientation Swami said, “She is overwhelmed with emotions. She has thousands of questions, all spiritual ones, and we try to satisfy her with our answers all the time.”
Undoubtedly, he said, “Her family is one of the wealthiest in the world. But there is not an iota of arrogance in her. She wants to remain simple and unassuming. (This is reflected in the fact that) she is not only taking part in the rituals but making preparations for the same with her own hands.”
He said the Indian tradition was so good that those who were not aware of and didn’t understand it wanted to be associated with it.
