Bhopal: It was a rare occasion the capital city of Bhopal hardly witnesses elsewhere other than Old Campion Ground-Gathering of doctors, politicians, journalists, sportspersons, members of business community, students and others to engage in playing cricket matches not for the sake of entertainment but pay tributes to and commemorate State BJP Vice-president Vijesh Lunawat on the eve of his birth anniversary.

On Sunday, it was the fourth edition of the cricket matches held in different categories on Old Campion Ground which saw a blend of resolve to carry on the legacy through different kinds of social works that late Lunawat loved to organise at regular intervals and emotionally charged atmosphere in commemorating him.
Three cricket matches were held at the Ground today when several dignitaries including state BJP president VD Sharma, state BJP general secretary (organisation) Hitanand Sharma and Bhopal mayor Malti Rai were present turned up to recall the services of late Vijesh Lunawat to the society and also to the party organisation.
Vijesh believed in uniting the society and taking care of needy people silently without doing or wanting any publicity. Vijesh Lunawat Memorial Foundation doesn’t only organise social services to mark his death anniversaries but also organises several social service programmes to mark his monthly “punya tithi” as well i.e. 5th of every month: Dr Shailesh Lunawat, renowned radiologist and elder brother of Vijesh Lunawat

According to organising committee secretary Muskan Lunawat, in the first cricket match played between Rising Stars vs Future Heroes, Vikas Vohra led Future Heroes won the match. Dr Sachin was the man of the match.
In the second match- Doctors Chakallas Eleven led by Dr Shailesh Lunawat beat Journalists Eleven by nine runs in the last over. Dr Manish Borasi was the man of the match.
Similarly, in the third match Iron Ladies under the captaincy of Priyanka Kothari defeated Wonder Women by eight wickets. Akanksha Bhandari was the woman of the match.
Though soft tennis ball was used for the matches, there was no kid-glove treatment. The competition was intense and professional. For instance, the Doctors Eleven in particular vowed to “settle a score” with Journalists Eleven this year as they had faced defeat last year. In a tough contest they managed to win the match in the last over.
Women empowerment was also on display in the names of the teams itself. The women’ teams held balls and bats in hands and showcased professional cricket.

Those present on the occasion include state BJP president VD Sharma, general secretary (organisation) BJP Hitanand Sharma, MLA Rameshwar Sharma, Mayor Malti Rai, Nagar Nigam, Bhopal chairman Kishan Suryavanshi, state BJP vice-president Seema Singh, district BJP president Ravindra Yati, general secretary Ashwini Rai, senior BJP leaders Sunil Pandey and Hidayatullah Sheikh, corporator Mamta Baweja, AIIMS, Bhopal president Dr Sunil Malik, All India President of Gujarati Samaj Sanjay Patel, Digambara Jain Samaj president Amar Jain and senior journalist Mrigendra Singh.
The society in general and the BJP in particular will always remember social work of late Lunawat and also his valuable efforts in strengthening of the party organisation: state BJP president VD Sharma
On the occasion, senior journalist Mrigendra Singh was felicitated for his valuable contribution to the field of journalism.
Late Vijesh Lunawat, while holding various posts in Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and Bharatiya Janata Party, made a significant contribution in strengthening the Parishad and BJP in Madhya Pradesh. Along with this, in the field of social work, he did remarkable work in environment, sports and other social services.
